Cape Winelands Riding offers three different accommodation types, allowing you to tailor your riding holiday to your personal tastes and budgets. Choose from a five-star luxury boutique lodge, a four-star wine estate guest house or homely onsite farm accommodation. No matter the accommodation choice, the package (the rides, wine tastings and other local excursions) are the same for all our guests. If you’re looking for variety, book two of the accommodation choices to sample even more of this breathtakingly beautiful area!
Should any of the following options be fully booked in season, Cape Winelands Riding will recommend other lodges or guest houses of an equal standard in the same area.
Luxury Boutique Lodge
Angala Guest House
Angala Boutique Hotel is where homely luxury blends with the pristine beauty of nature. Located in the heart of the winelands between magnificent mountains, Angala is a retreat for body, mind and spirit. From high up on the slopes of the majestic Simonsberg Mountain with spectacular vistas across vineyards to the Boland Mountains, enjoy splendid sunsets and watch the mountains glow in the late afternoon sun. Wake up to country quiet and tranquility, hearty homemade breakfasts and freshly brewed coffee.
All suites and cottages are spacious, fully-equipped and private. Special attention is paid to decoration and finer details – clean lines and natural colours are paired with authentic touches throughout. The decoration items, sculptures and pieces in the rooms and on the premises all have a unique origin and story.
After a day’s ride, treat yourself to a variety of professional spa and massage treatments in the comfort and privacy of your own room. Or reawaken your senses in Angala’s sparkling Eco Pool. This unique feature recreates the natural filtering process as found in mountain streams, rivers and ponds. Guests can experience the beauty of this pristine ecosystem through a daily dip, or simply admire the marvels of nature from the side.
Because Angala is such an exclusive guest house, a few month’s advance booking is strongly recommended.
Wine Estate Guest House
De Leeuwenhof Estate
De Leeuwenhof Estate, established in 1698, is a beautiful guest house rich in history situated on a 12 hectare fruit farm and wine estate just outside Paarl. The main buildings as well as the farm have been fully restored and the old barn and stables have been transformed into a four-star guest facility.
Enjoy warm hospitality and a personal approach in a comfortable country setting. Guests can stroll through the farm’s Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cape-Riesling vineyards or enjoy a private tour by the farmer on an old tractor. Visitors return time and again for the peace and tranquillity of the farm, and the estate has become a bird watcher’s paradise too.
Set in a beautiful river valley, the rooms are all comfortably appointed with individual furnishings and most modern amenities including air-conditioning and high speed internet access. The rooms all have a private terrace and are serviced daily. Choose from two swimming pools on the estate and end your day relaxing on the deck while enjoying the valley scenery.
On Site Farm Accommodation
For guests wanting an up-close equestrian experience rich with all the sights, sounds, smells and energy of a working yard, our farm accommodation option is sure to deliver. We have two cosy bedrooms (one twin, one double) that have been converted from old stables, both with patios and views of the breathtaking Simonsberg Mountain.
The rooms have an en suite bathroom with a shower, a safe, mini fridge, and tea and coffee facilities. A continental breakfast (including muesli, yoghurt, cereal, rusks and tea or coffee) is provided to enjoy in your room or on your patio – fuel for the day’s excursion! After an exhilarating ride in the morning, spend a lazy afternoon in your hammock with a book or just soak up the environment.
This relaxed farm-style option lets you truly immerse yourself in The Cape Winelands Riding Experience and enjoy the stable environment in its entirety!
